Questions about mobile proxies for Reddit

What is the best proxy for Reddit?

For an account, a dedicated 4G or 5G mobile IP: one carrier line for that account, given to no other Prox’Easy customer during the month. For reading public Reddit from other countries, rotating mobile per gigabyte. A datacenter proxy sits in exactly the kind of hosting netblock where Reddit asks for a login or an OAuth token. If your research needs a city rather than a country — Reddit can suggest communities by the city it infers from an IP — rotating mobile stops at country level, and our residential pool, from $19.99 for 5 GB with city targeting, is the better fit.

Is a 4G proxy good for Reddit?

Yes, if it is dedicated. A dedicated 4G line that no other Prox’Easy customer is given puts a Reddit account on one carrier address at a time, held for up to 24 hours and changed on demand from the change-IP URL. A shared rotating 4G pool is a different product — fine for reading, wrong for an account meant to look like one phone. Ours run on Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile in the United States from $85 a month, and on Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom, Free Mobile in France from $55.

How many Reddit accounts can I run on one IP?

One per IP is the setup we sell for. Reddit allows several accounts per person, and its help article on multiple accounts sets no per-IP number; it sets a behaviour rule instead — none of your accounts may vote on the same posts or comments. Reddit’s ban evasion filter relates accounts using signals that include how they connect, so a shared address is one more sign that the accounts belong together.

Does Reddit block proxies and VPNs?

Not by name in any Reddit page cited here — none of them mentions proxies or VPNs. What Reddit does write is that traffic from a hosted service provider’s netblock must carry an OAuth token or a logged-in session, and that network and location signals feed the quality score every account receives. So the kind of address matters more than the word: a datacenter range meets the first rule head-on, while a carrier IP is not a hosting netblock and is still one input to the score.

Can I use rotating proxies with the Reddit API?

You do not need them, and they do not add capacity. The free Data API limit is counted per OAuth client id, not per IP, and the Data API Terms forbid circumventing call limits or masking the user agent or OAuth identity. Approved API access works from an ordinary server; for commercial use or volume beyond the free limit, Reddit’s terms send you to a separate agreement with Reddit.

Will a new IP get a banned Reddit account back?

No. A ban sits on the account, not the address: while it lasts, the account cannot vote, post, comment or send chats from any IP. Returning on another account is ban evasion as Reddit’s help center defines it, and the ban evasion filter exists to spot it through linked signals. If you believe the ban was a mistake, Reddit’s route is an appeal.

Which countries can I target for Reddit?

Dedicated 4G: the United States, France, Italy and Spain. Dedicated 5G: the United States and France. Rotating mobile: 180+ countries at country level (pool figures as of October 2026), with no city, carrier or 4G/5G choice — check the live country list in your dashboard before you buy a pack for a particular market.

Reddit: the rules, the limits and our sources

People buy a Reddit proxy for one of two jobs, and each job wants a different product. Running accounts wants one dedicated 4G or 5G carrier IP per account — Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile in the United States from $85 a month, or a French carrier from $55. Reading public Reddit as a visitor in another country wants the rotating mobile pool, billed by the gigabyte from $4.75. Reddit’s own pages on scraping, multiple accounts, vote manipulation and ban evasion are quoted below, with the uses we will not sell for.

Which kind of proxy does Reddit need?

A dedicated 4G or 5G IP if you are running an account; rotating mobile if you are only reading. An account is judged over months as one identity, so it wants an address no other Prox’Easy customer is given. Reading public threads builds no identity at all, so a shared pool that hands out a fresh mobile exit per request, or holds one for up to two hours, fits better — and it is billed by the gigabyte you actually use.

Reddit itself explains why the country of the address matters for the reading job. It infers a city, region or country from each IP address; by default it uses that location to suggest communities and posts, and it uses it to choose ads as well. An exit in the country you are studying puts the IP-derived part of that picture there. Joined communities and a signed-in account’s history are separate inputs, and an address does not move them.

Why does the IP address matter to Reddit?

Because Reddit grades every account partly on it. The Contributor Quality Score — a five-tier rating that moderators can filter on in AutoModerator — is built from the account’s past actions, its network and location signals, and the steps taken to secure it, such as a verified email. The network is one input among several, and it is the only one a proxy purchase decides.

Two more lines on Reddit’s own pages bear on the address, each in its own way. Anyone arriving from a hosted service provider’s netblock is asked for an OAuth token or a logged-in session, and a datacenter proxy is, by definition, in such a netblock. Separately, while Reddit keeps most IP records for 100 days from your last visit, the address an account was created from is the one exception to that limit.

On the first point, a carrier IP is not in a hosting netblock: it belongs to a mobile network, and carrier networks share public addresses among their subscribers through carrier-grade NAT. The second point is about timing rather than network type — the sign-up address stays on file, so create an account on the line it will run on, not on an office connection or a pool. A dedicated 4G or 5G proxy gives a Reddit account a carrier address that no other Prox’Easy customer is given. It feeds one input of the score; the account supplies the rest.

FROM REDDIT’S OWN PAGES

“Every account is assigned a CQS based on a host of signals including past actions taken on a user's account, network and location signals, and steps a user has taken to secure their account (e.g. email verification).”

“If you’re accessing Reddit from an IP address in a hosted service provider's netblock, you will be required to have a valid OAuth token or be logged in.”

“Except for the IP address used to create your account, we only store your IP address information for 100 days from your last visit.”

What will a proxy not do for a Reddit account?

It will not give an account age, karma or a verified email, and those are what communities gate posting on. Reddit’s Poster Eligibility Guide tells a new user they cannot post yet because of account age, karma or an unverified email, and Reddit does not disclose the thresholds each community sets. A day-old account with no karma is still a day-old account with no karma on the best carrier address there is. New accounts also meet a posting and commenting rate limit that, Reddit says, earning some karma helps with.

It will not answer the questions Reddit puts to the device. When Reddit detects automated activity on an account, it can ask for a passkey — face, fingerprint or device PIN — and an account that does not verify within seven days is labelled as an app and may lose posting and commenting. It does not lift a ban either: a banned account cannot vote, post or comment from any address, and the ban evasion filter moderators can switch on links accounts through signals that include how they connect to Reddit.

So the trade is narrow and worth stating exactly. A dedicated IP takes three network problems off an account — a hosting netblock, an address our other customers also route through, a different country every hour — and leaves the account’s age, karma, history and behaviour where they were.

What will we not sell a Reddit proxy for?

Vote manipulation and ban evasion. Reddit’s help center describes both, on its Disrupting Communities, multiple-accounts and ban-evasion pages, and both are jobs where a stack of extra addresses looks useful, so they are written here by name rather than left to a general clause.

Reddit allows one person several accounts; its help center says so in as many words. The line falls where the accounts act together. Voting on the same posts or comments from more than one of your accounts is vote manipulation, and so are voting services and automation that move vote counts up or down. Coming back to a community on another account after its moderators banned you, or using another account after a sitewide ban, is ban evasion.

We do not sell for either. Our Acceptable Use Policy governs what passes through our network — it prohibits spam, and any use that gets our address space blocked by a carrier or an IP reputation service — and Reddit’s rules govern what happens on Reddit. We supply the address. Whether a given use is allowed is between you, Reddit’s terms and that policy.

FROM REDDIT’S OWN PAGES

“Abide by community rules. Participate authentically in communities where you have a personal interest, and do not spam or engage in disruptive behaviors (including content manipulation) that interfere with Reddit communities.”

“Creating and employing multiple accounts, voting services, or any automation to manipulate vote counts by either increasing or decreasing them.”

“Creating or using multiple accounts to circumvent a community ban issued by a mod of a community or to violate Reddit policies following a site-wide ban issued by Reddit admins.”

“Don't use any of your accounts to vote on the same posts or comments. This is considered vote manipulation which violates the Reddit Rules.”

Do I need a proxy to scrape Reddit?

Not for the API, and for scraping pages a proxy does not change what Reddit’s terms say. Reddit’s Data API requires approval and a registered OAuth client, and its free tier allows 100 queries per minute per OAuth client id, averaged over what is currently a ten-minute window. That limit follows the client, not the address. The Data API Terms forbid circumventing call limits and masking the user agent or OAuth identity, and the Responsible Builder Policy rules out registering several accounts for the same use case.

Outside the API, Reddit’s User Agreement prohibits scraping without its prior written consent, its robots.txt disallows the whole site for every user agent, and its help page for the don’t-break-the-site rule lists scraping without an authorized agreement among the things that may violate it. Commercial use needs Reddit’s permission and a contract; academic research goes through the Reddit for Researchers program; and Reddit names companies that help brands monitor trends among its data licensees. Collecting Reddit at volume is what those routes are for, and an IP address is not one of them.

Where rotating mobile fits is reading Reddit the way a person in another country reads it: opening public threads, subreddits and search from an exit in that country, at a reader’s pace, to see the parts of Reddit that follow the IP — the communities suggested by location and the ads chosen by inferred location. Put the country code in the username, take a new IP per request or have your dashboard build a sticky username that holds one exit for up to 120 minutes, and pay only for the gigabytes read.

FROM REDDIT’S OWN PAGES

“scraping the Services without Reddit’s prior written consent is prohibited”

“100 queries per minute (QPM) per OAuth client id”

“If you are interested in using the Data APIs for commercial purposes, research in excess of rate limits, or for any use that is not expressly permitted under the Data API Terms, then you will need to enter into a separate agreement with Reddit.”

“The only official and authorized avenue for performing research using Reddit data is through the Reddit For Researchers (RFR) program.”

Who should buy which proxy for Reddit?

Choose by the job, not by the unit price. A per-gigabyte pool is the wrong home for an account that should look like one phone, and a monthly dedicated IP sits in a single country, so it is the wrong tool for reading across many.

BUILT FOR

  • Brands and agencies running their own or a client’s Reddit accounts — a company profile, a founder’s account, the moderators of a brand’s own subreddit — each account on its own dedicated IP in the country it posts from.
  • Cross-border sellers who answer questions about their products in the communities their buyers read, one consistent US, French, Italian or Spanish carrier address per account.
  • Market and brand researchers reading public threads in many countries, by hand or in a browser, on rotating mobile billed per gigabyte.
  • Ad and community teams checking which communities and promoted posts Reddit puts in front of a reader located in a given country — rotating mobile, one country per exit.

NOT FOR

  • Vote rings, upvote services and karma farming, by hand or by bot.
  • Returning to a subreddit, or to Reddit, on a fresh account after a ban.
  • Mass account registration — Reddit lists creating accounts through automated or agentic means among the ways to break the site.
  • Bulk collection of Reddit content in place of the API or a data licence, or spreading API calls across many IPs to get past a rate limit.
  • Anything else our Acceptable Use Policy names.

How do I set up a dedicated proxy for a Reddit account?

Give every account its own browser profile and its own dedicated IP, and make that address part of the account from the first day. In an antidetect browser — AdsPower, BitBrowser (比特浏览器), MoreLogin, GeeLark, Hubstudio or another — paste one account’s proxy into that account’s profile and into no other; HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 are all offered. On a phone or a cloud phone, set the proxy at device level and keep one device per account.

If an account runs any automation, register it with Reddit as an app before it runs. Reddit can ask an account it sees automating to prove a person is behind it, and labels it an app if nobody does.

  • One account, one profile, one dedicated IP — never a second account on the same address
  • Create the account on its own dedicated line; Reddit exempts the sign-up IP from its 100-day limit
  • Verify the email and turn on two-factor before the first post
  • Automated account? Register it as an app first, and keep it to app work only
  • Use the change-IP URL between sessions if at all, never in the middle of one
  • Exit IP, country and carrier ASN checked before the first login

How are our dedicated mobile IPs sourced?

They are our own hardware: modems and phones we run, each with its own SIM on the carrier you choose at checkout. The address you get is the one that carrier assigns to that SIM, and for the month it is assigned to your account and nobody else’s — one modem, one customer. Nothing is borrowed from a stranger’s phone and nothing is a pool, so the question that hangs over residential proxies — whose device does this traffic leave from? — does not arise here.

Rotation is a reconnect. The modem drops and re-registers, and the carrier — the same carrier, never a different one — hands it a new address. If a modem fails, your proxy is moved to another modem on the same carrier within seconds; the address changes, because it belongs to the SIM’s session with the carrier, not to you. The cities and carriers below are what you are actually buying, so we publish them; we do not publish how many devices we run.
